WHALE’S PUBLIC EDUCATION PROGRAMS/AHA! Night Programming is designed to reach out to the general public to build awareness and appreciation of the amazing architecture that exists throughout our region, preservation and its neighborhood and community benefits, and the significant role WHALE has played in transforming New Bedford. Join us on the second thursday in April through July for some fun and preservation.
May 13 - 6:00 PM – Architectural Preservation Trolley Tour
WHALE presents an Architectural/Preservation Trolley Tour during AHA night beginning at the National Park Visitors Center, 33 William St., New Bedford, MA. Join us for a fun ride around historic New Bedford to see magnificent architecture and amazing preservation projects. Architectural styles featured include Federal, Greek Revival, Gothic Revival, Octagon, Queen Anne, and Italianate. Participants will receive a free copy of WHALE’s architectural coloring book featuring homes located throughout New Bedford that exemplify various architectural styles. Approximately one hour tour. Free. Presented by WHALE and New Bedford Whaling National Historical Park. Limited seating. Reservation suggested by calling 508-997-1776.
June 10 - 6:00 PM – Preservation Walking Tour Preservation Walking Tour of New Bedford Whaling National Historical Park & Downtown during AHA night. Begins at the National Park Visitors Center, 33 William St., New Bedford, MA. Join us for a walk through cobblestoned streets to learn more about the establishment of WHALE, our preservation efforts, and the more than 27 distinct projects and initiatives that WHALE has been spearheaded in the heart of our great city. Free. Presented by WHALE and New Bedford Whaling National Historical Park.
July 8 - 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM – Build a Historic House Children's Activity Corson Maritime Learning Center, 33 William Street, 2nd Floor
Build a Historic House during "Kid's Rule" AHA night. This is a fun, hands-on learningactivity for children of all ages. Children get to choose and put together a particular architectural style seen in and around New Bedford. Free. Presented by WHALE & New Bedford Whaling National Historical Park.

WHALE’S ANNUAL BUSINESS MEETING is designed to update WHALE members and the general public about the activities of the organization over the past year. In addition to electing officers and directors, WHALE also presents preservation awards recognizing outstanding preservation projects completed in our region by corporations, groups, and individual homeowners.

WHALE's Annual Meeting reflects on the activities and direction of the organization over the past year with a glimpse of WHALE's most current preservation projects. Officers and Directors for the corppration will be elected. Annual preservation awards will be presented. Light hors d'oeuvres and cash bar will be available following the meeting.

THE SUMMER SOIREE is a first class, elegant evening filled with fine dining, libations, and live entertainment. Held in the gardens and fields of the private estate of WHALE supporters, the Soiree provides an excellent opportunity to wander the grounds of some of the most breathtaking locations in our region.

This elegant extravaganza is a perfect salute to WHALE’s founders, leaders, and amazing legacy over the past 47 years. The evening features live entertainment, open bar, raw bar and gourmet dining catered by New England Clam Jams, It's Thyme Catering and the Bayside Restaurant. Proceeds benefit WHALE's Neighborhood Restoration Program – its neighborhood revitalization and preservation efforts, and public education programming. In 2010. the Soiree will be held at the historic Smith property, 24 Ned's Point Road, Mattapoisett. THE 20th ANNUAL INTERNATIONAL WINE FESTIVAL AND AUCTION
is one of the premier fundraising events of the year. With great panache, WHALE transforms a parking lot into a beautiful paradise where fine wines, champagnes, beers, and more from around the world are enjoyed by more than 500 attendees.
Friday, October 1, 2010 - 5:30 to 9:00 PM
The 20th Annual International Wine Festival and Auction presented by Cardoza's Wine & Spirits will be held under one tent at Custom House Square in historic downtown New Bedford. The Wine Fest features 150 fine wines from around the world, beers, cognac, champagnes, and specialty drinks. In addition, more than 18 of our finest restaurants and caterers serve their signature dishes delighting even the most discriminating palate. It is the premier wine and food tasting event in the South Coast.
In honor of our 20th Anniversary, we will be offering a $20 discount on tickets. As a result, tickets will be $50 per person for WHALE members and Cardoza Reward members and $70 for non-members and at the door.
