Taste of the Port 2014 gala a huge success!

April 9, 2014

portsociety_whale_WWF_ (15 of 30)On behalf of the New Bedford Port Society, Waterfront Historic Area LeaguE, and Working Waterfront Festival, we would like to thank everyone who contributed to the success of the Taste of the Port event.  This kickoff to our capital campaign raised significant funds to support the Port Society Complex Project and was attended by over 200 guests. These funds will be used to restore the Seamen’s Bethel and Mariners’ Home, make both buildings handicap accessible, and create a Fishing Heritage Center to tell the story of New Bedford’s development as the number one fishing port in the country.

Thank You to:

The Whaling Museum for providing the venue, the restaurants, chefs and fishing industry businesses that contributed food, the businesses and individuals that donated auction items, the Ladies Branch of the Port Society and City of New Bedford for their financial contributions, the elected officials and individuals who attended the event, and the volunteer crew who worked behind the scenes to make everything run smoothly.  The outpouring of community support for this project affirmed our belief in the need for this work to be done.  We are one step closer to reaching our goal, all thanks to you.
